Speaker Clarity

The objective of the speaker clarity category was to determine the chain that had the clearest and most understandable interaction, from a customer’s perspective, via the speaker.

During each visit, researchers determined the clarity of the speaker interaction.  Speakers that were out of order, had an excessive amount of static, an excessively high or low volume level, or were otherwise unclear, were logged as being unacceptable.  Each chain was then ranked based on the percentage of acceptable speakers.

The following chart represents a ranking of all restaurant chains based on speaker clarity.  El Pollo Loco leads the industry in this category, with 97.86% of locations receiving a perfect score for speaker clarity in the 2006 study.  Closely following the leader was Jack In The Box, with 97.77%.  Church’s Chicken trailed the industry in this category, with 82.20% of locations receiving perfect speaker clarity scores in 2006.
